Sailer Stepan and Partners, established in 1954 and located in Munich, is one of the leading German structural engineering consulting companies. Since our founding we have successfully carried out a wide spectrum of often complex design services at the highest standards. 

Our goal is the development, design and calculation of optimal structures through early and comprehensive input in coordination with the entire construction team. Architecture, economic efficiency, functionality and innovation are essential criteria for our design work. The loyalty of well-known clients, architects and engineers over many years as well as the awards for our engineering designs confirm our achievements.

We undertake all design activities and almost every specialised service for the construction industry: not only new developments, conversions and renovations but also specialist reports and feasibility studies. We can design everything from a wall recess to the structural engineering for a major construction project.

We continuously strive to improve our operating efficiency and expand our knowledge in order to maintain our competitive advantage and to meet new challenges.

Among our employees are all-rounders as well as specialists with many years of professional experience. Thus fully integrated solutions even for complex problems can be addressed at short notice. Our engineers are part of a vast network of associations, expert committees and universities and also play a role in industry innovations.

In order to improve our consulting practice we regularly host internal meetings and provide training for our employees on the latest developments in our field and experiences from recent projects.

 Our company is led by six partners who are all structural engineers. We have made it a general rule for our business that every project is managed and supervised by a partner. At all times the partner works closely with the project management. This results in optimal structures from both an architectural and economical point of view.

Due to shorter planning time frames and specific project requirements, the assignment of an appropriate team is of primary importance. During workload peaks we can supplement this team with additional qualified employees at short notice. All important functions are dually filled and all operations are permanently supervised in order to meet our deadlines.

All our projects are supported by contemporary technology. Our IT systems accelerate innovation and impart extra flexibility to our designs and calculations. Our infrastructure also ensures an intelligent and up-to-date information exchange.

The application of a certified quality management system underlines our high work standards and contributes to the continuous improvement of our services.

Our achievements speak for themselves

Some examples:
We reduced the construction costs of the new parliament building in Berlin by several million euros. We developed an innovative solution for the structure of the 24-metre-high facade without changing the architectural concept.

The new football stadium in Munich, the Allianz Arena, also benefited greatly from our expertise. Our alternative design for the roof structure reduced the steel weight by 18%. Furthermore, we developed the concept for the cladding substructure, thereby avoiding movement joints.

Our concept for the Mathäser, a cinema and office complex in Munich, not only lowered the construction costs but also improved the building’s functionality. Keeping the original slab thicknesses we still saved 25% of the foundation weight and decreased the number of columns by 40%. This reduction in building materials significantly improved the construction logistics.

A competition was carried out for the structural engineering of the DaimlerChrysler regional HQ in Munich. We were awarded the contract as a result of the quality of our architectural and economical construction proposal.

We focus on the design and calculation of engineering structures. Our services cover the entire HOAI (German Regulations for Fees and Services for Engineers and Architects). In addition, we provide specialist reports and feasibility studies.
